We look forward to making many memorable and fun learning experiences with you! This week we learned about Hawai'i and volcanoes. We made a "hula skirt", simulated a "volcano" eruption, and had fun dancing. We learned that there are 8 main islands that make up the Hawaiian Islands, and that we live on the island of Maui. We read about how islands are formed by underwater volcanoes.Hula skirt (scissor skills, fine motor, lacing, colors, counting)Volcano (vinegar & baking soda): cause & effectDancing Fun (gross motor)This week we were busy gluing, rolling, and squeezing to make mom her special surprise. We decorated a glass bottle with fabric and ribbon. Then we filled it with filler paper, and placed flowers with our pictures in it. Finally, we made chocolate filled strawberries.Flower vase (fine motor, rolling, squeezing)Chocolate filled strawberries (squeezing, fine motor)Today we had a surprise visitor while we were playing outside. We saw a jackson chameleon walking along our fence. It was a great opportunity to talk and learn about the differences and similarities between the jackson chameleon and the gecko we see every day on the fence. |
