This week we learned about taking care of our earth and our environment through the 3 R's: Re-use, Recycle, Reduce. We re-used a paper towel roll and Christmas ribbon, along with peanut butter and bird seeds to make a bird feeder for the birds in our yards. We also baked "earth" cupcakes to celebrate Earth Day.Bird Feeders (fine motor, recycling)Earth Cupcakes (fine motor, math, colors)This week we learned what makes a rainbow and the colors that are in every rainbow. We learned that raindrops act as a prism, bending the sunlight passing through to create a rainbow. We also learned that the colors in the rainbow are always the same in the same order: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.Rainbow (scissor skills, fine motor, colors, counting 1-7)This week we learned about rain. For art we used straws and watery paint to make a colorful "raindrop" art. Then we recreated the water cycle (evaporation, condensation, precipitation) using jars of water (hot and cold), shaving cream (cloud), food coloring (rain), and ice. We ended the week by putting on our raincoats and opening our umbrellas to play in the "rain". We had lots of fun!Raindrop Art (colors, fine motor, taking turns)The Water Cycle Experiment (cause & effect)Playing in the rain (rainy weather gear)This week we were busy making our baskets, coloring and hunting for eggs.Basket (fine motor, colors, scissor skills)Coloring Eggs (colors, oval shape, fine motor, cause & effect)Egg Hunt (name recognition, helping friends, counting 1-6) |
